The British Council have launched the UK-China Outward Mobility Internationalisation Partnership Fund, which aims to pave the way to lasting links and partnerships between the two countries through greater student mobility.

The Generation UK campaign brings young people from the UK and China closer together, increasing their mutual understanding and enabling them to contribute positively not only to the UK and China’s economic partnerships, but also to wider global communities.

Over the past five years, the campaign has seen a significant increase in the number of young people taking up opportunities in China, with more than 55,000 participating in study and work programmes since the launch. In 2018, approximately 15,000 young British nationals gained experience in China.

The UK-China Outward Mobility Internationalisation Partnership Fund will support projects to grow the scale and impact of student mobility from the UK to China in the long term through greater collaboration with Chinese universities.

Carma Elliot, Director China at the British Council and Minister Counsellor (Education and Culture) at the British Embassy Beijing said:

“We are therefore delighted to launch the UK-China Outward Mobility Internationalisation Partnership Fund, which furthers our commitment to working with China to develop global citizens of the 21st century. This is an opportunity for UK and Chinese institutions to collaborate on shared ambitions and shared goals to give young people in the UK greater opportunities to experience all that China has to offer.”

The British Council is now calling for proposals from UK higher and further education institutions interested in supporting internationalisation and outward mobility initiatives with China through the Fund. Up to £30,000 will be awarded per institution.

The deadline for submissions is 23:59 GMT on 9 September 2019 - Find out more here: https://www.britishcouncil.org/education/ihe/opportunities/uk-china-outward-mobility-internationalisation-partnership-fund
